New high quality homes, both completed and under construction will be shown off to a Government minister when he visits the Oldham Rochdale Housing Market Renewal (HMR) Pathfinder on Wednesday 12th December.
During his visit, Under Secretary of State at the Department for Communities and Local Government, Iain Wright MP will view progress on the building of 25 eco-friendly family homes at Nelson Place, Wardleworth in Rochdale.
The minister will also tour a number of other key sites where the HMR Pathfinder and its development partners will build new housing to increase the choice of homes and range of tenures on offer to local people.
Iain Wright MP will see how 25 new homes are progressing at the Nelson Place development. The three and four bedroom homes will help to make the area an increasingly attractive place to live.

BASE, a pioneering joint venture between Artisan Property Group and national housebuilder Barratt, is developing the site in partnership with the HMR Pathfinder, Rochdale Council and Rochdale Development Agency.
The design is aiming to achieve the Eco-homes ‘very good’ standard. The houses will be environmentally sustainable, using materials from ‘green’ sources and cutting residents’ fuel bills. The plans scooped a National Housing Design Award earlier this year, as did housing plans for the Dale Mill site in Hamer.
Local people played an important role in the design of the new homes, letting the HMR team know their views at consultation events at the nearby Wardleworth Community Centre.
The minister will visit the community centre where he will meet local residents who regularly provide the Pathfinder with their views on regeneration through the Residents Sounding Panel. He will also be introduced to Rochdale residents who have already put deposits down on the new Nelson Place homes.
In addition, two local trainees will be at hand to convey their ambitions of becoming fully qualified and experienced construction workers. Both secured employment through J21, with Artisan Construction. Deeplish resident, Bilal Rehman is training to become an Electrician and Syke resident Michaela Brown is training to become a Quantity Surveyor. They’re currently working on schemes in Manchester and look forward to working on the flagship Dale Mill site, in the New Year. The partnership between J21, HMR and BASE aims to provide employment for over 30 construction trainees across East Central Rochdale over the next 8 years and contracting opportunities for local contractors.
