Growth Opportunities for Local Contractors

Over 60 local construction contractors gathered at Rochdale Town Hall in May 2006, to learn about contracting opportunities on Kingsway Business Park, the largest business park under construction in the North West.

The site is being developed by Wilson Bowden Developments in partnership with Rochdale Council and the North West Development Agency, who are jointly investing in the project to create a world class 21st centaury employment park.

The event was organised by J21, a partnership project between Oldham & Rochdale Council, The Oldham College and Hopwood Hall College, that aims to maximise employment and supply chain opportunities for local people and businesses across a number of key construction initiatives.

Amongst the diverse range of local firms present were: Casey Group of Companies, West Shield Ltd, The Lord Group, Jackson Jackson, Cooney Construction, Heywood Scaffolding Services, Kinder Building Interiors, Celltek Communications UK Ltd and many more.

Nick Davies, Commercial Director for Wilson Bowden Developments said “The event proved useful given the number of local contractors that attended, we will use this as an opportunity to increase our local supply base across the North West and hopefully gain some good quality contractors”.
